Meet Your Trainer

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to check out Moonbeam Fitness. I have been a lover of movement since the beginning of time, which led to a childhood filled with competitive gymnastics, competitive dance, and lots of musical theatre (points if you understand the traumas that can come from even just dabbling in that competitive world during formative years). While the world of professional competitive performance has significantly shaped who I am today, there came a point in my teenage years where I decided to step back and focus on community dance & production only, which fostered my love for teaching and helping others. I am a proud graduate of Murray State University where I acted as the MSU Dance Team President until my graduation and health crisis in 2014/2015. Unfortunately a routine surgical procedure left me debilitated and unable to participate in physical activity for almost 2 years, which was devastating. I lost a significant amount of weight and knew getting back to movement was my only chance of getting my life back while Doctors figured out a diagnosis (which was not properly determined until 2021). In 2016 once I was cleared for light exercise, I joined a gym, which was something that was so unfamiliar to me at the time. I felt nervous, uncomfortable, intimidated, and had no idea how to use machines or equipment confidently. Determined to create a new routine for my health, I started to view exercise routines as I would a dance routine by creating an order of movements that made sense to me (or at least, what I thought made sense to me at the time). Eventually, as I felt progress in my strength, gained some weight back, and my quality of life started to return, I caught the gym bug. In 2018 I decided to obtain my group fitness certification “just for fun”. I thought it might be fun to teach a fitness class once or twice a week to fuel my passion for instructing, until I attended a group fitness training course in 2019 led by master trainer Renee Pickett. This course challenged and inspired me to obtain my personal training certification, I thought “why not?” if anything, even if I don’t train anyone ever, the knowledge I’ll have for my own training will be invaluable! As I dabbled in personal training as a side hustle I very quickly realized that women, in particular, are WILDLY underserved in the fitness community. Fitness does not have a look, a specific number on the scale or size, a sexuality, or a BMI…so why are most fitness programs biased towards one or more of those things? I was absolutely mind-blown, I knew there had to be something done and it had to be done differently than anything I’d experienced before. And so, I quit my full-time job as a Veterinary Nurse, and Moonbeam Fitness was born. I could not be more proud of Moonbeam’s mission to help others navigate their journey and relationship with movement, it’s a calling that I feel extremely privileged to be able to execute. I am an endometriosis & adenomyosis warrior and an advocate for all marginalized communities celebrating all genders, bodies, and belief systems. Here’s to cultivating a community of growth and empowerment!
